Born and raised in the Shenendoah Valley of Va, I was definately born with a deep overwhelming love for horses.
As far back as I can
remember and my family can recall I have expressed my love for them and my desire to capture the way I felt about them and all animals
in my art. I started drawing on the only paper I could find at the time, which was the brown paper bags our groceries came in. I regretfully
decided not to take art in school because when my sister took it , they only painted flowers, houses and scenery and all I wanted
to do was paint horses and animals. Little did I realize then that all of those things were important to know for anything you painted
or drew. I just have to rely on what I see and feel to create my artwork. I have always managed to have a horse throughout most of
my life, and of course dogs and cat's and sometimes a small menagerie of other creatures, tame and wild, that came to me in my life.
My first equine was a backyard pony, as we lived in the city then. I spent all my pennies at the local carnivals on pony rides and winning ducklings and chicks to take home, in the penny in the dish toss. As an adult I lived secluded in the mountains on 7 acres and had about one of every kind of farm animal along with my horses. Strangers were always showing up with sick and injured small wildlife for me to nurse back to health. Over the years I drew with pencils, not knowing how to work with colors and eventually ventured into the world of color through airbrushing and painting with different mediums. I love to draw and paint animals and I give it my best at doing people portraits. Now I have decided to share my abilities and create memories for others that will last for many lifetimes of memories captured and frozen in time. Animals and pets are our beloved companions and I believe we need them as much as they need us. I strive to learn the personalities and to capture that essence in every portrait I do. That is as important to me as is your love for them.
